Spell it with Fabric Moda Blog Hop

Thank you for joining me for the “Spell it with Fabric” Moda Blog Hop.

My letter is … L

I made my block using two of my favorite fabrics from my “High Street” collection. They are  Moda 1147019 and 1147413. You can find the instructions to make this letter here.

What are your initials?
My initials are LA.

My favorite quilt block
Well, that’s a hard question but right now I’m loving the simple pinwheel motif in the “LOUISIANA” quilt block. I designed this with three of the fabrics coming out this May in my “Folklore” collection. They are as follows: Moda 1148316, 1148415 and 1148516.

Here is a sneak peek at my Folklore collection.

My favorite memory about school …
LOCKING LIPS
with my high school boyfriend in front of my LOCKER. I guess I was a bit of a rebel:)

My favorite book, movie or television show …
Anything starring Jude LAW!

I love quilting because …
it’s on my LIST of things to learn because truth be told I’m a bit of a novice. I have found designing quilt patterns has been an excellent way for me to learn the basics, with the help of some talented and experienced friends. Up for grabs today is my “High Street” quilt pattern as well as a layer cake. To enter, comment below about why you love quilting and I will choose a random winner on February 28th.

What if everyday was a holiday?
That would be wonderful as I’d have more time to pursue all of the creative activities I LOVE.

Is there an object, tool or anything that you cannot work without?
My LONG-SUFFERING Cintiq love designing by drawing directly on my computer monitor.

Do you have a quote or motto you live (or work) by?
This one popped up on Facebook today and kind of struck a chord.

Something I like …
LIAM FAHY SHOES
. Just in case you have a pair of these coveted beauties here is a cute little project to keep them safe when travelling. Download instructions here. I made this using a “High Street” charm pack.

Somewhere I have been …
LONDON, LUXEMBOURG, LAS VEGAS, AND LOS ANGELES.

Somewhere I want to go …
LE ÓN
, Spain is on my LIST for travel in the near future.

Someone I know ….
IsabeLLa, my eight year old daughter. The picture below is of Isabella using a pottery wheel. I just love her creative passion!

Thanks so much for joining me and a very special thanks to Moda.  Be sure to visit all of the talented Moda designers that will be posting over the next few days. Here is the link just in case:

Quilting is my stress reliever, my life saver. My job is sooooo stressful and working with fabric takes that away. Your fabric definitely is a stress reliever. Thanks for hosting!

Thank you for the free shoe bag pattern. I also like “L” as my name is Linda and I now live in France very close to Limoges!

  4. Sarah F says:

Quilting is my therapy – it brings calm to a hectic world. All the stages from cutting, piecing, binding and even un-picking (grrr!) allows you to lose yourself in your thoughts. Plus it gives me, a very unartistic individual, the opportunity to follow someone else’s clever instructions and make something totally beautiful.

  5. Heather says:

I love quilting because it is a quiet time when I can think. I also like that there is a product at the end of my sewing, I teach school, so there is no finished product for me there.

  6. Lynn D in NC says:

Can’t wait for your Folklore collection to hit the stores.

  7. Jan says:

Quilting has been a blessing in my life that even helps me to relax at times. It has also lead me to friends I would never have made otherwise. I used to just shorten hubbies pantlegs, then decided in 2005 that I should be able to do more with my machine…that is when I decided to learn to quilt. Along the way, I have gotten 2 more beautiful machines ….one to take along to quilt classes or gatherings and another beauty just to quilt with; leaving the first machine for the jeans and heavy things.

  94. Misty West says:

I love quilting because it helps me to feel close to my grandmother, “Mawmaw”. She taught me to sew when I was very young. I would sit in her lap and help feed the fabric and loved it! I went many years without sewing after she passed away. A few years ago, my aunt gave me tons of fabric scraps that were Mawmaw’s. When I went through all the fabric it brought back so many memories. I could remember all the outfits and blankets we made together. There were also tons of quilt squares needing to be finished. I started sewing them together that afternoon. I needed to know how to quilt and taught myself little by little. I have been hooked ever since!
