Spell it with Fabric Moda Blog Hop

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

Thank you for joining me for the “Spell it with Fabric” Moda Blog Hop.

My letter is … L

I made my block using two of my favorite fabrics from my “High Street” collection. They are  Moda 1147019 and 1147413. You can find the instructions to make this letter here.

What are your initials?
My initials are LA.

My favorite quilt block
Well, that’s a hard question but right now I’m loving the simple pinwheel motif in the “LOUISIANA” quilt block. I designed this with three of the fabrics coming out this May in my “Folklore” collection. They are as follows: Moda 1148316, 1148415 and 1148516.

Here is a sneak peek at my Folklore collection.

My favorite memory about school …
LOCKING LIPS
with my high school boyfriend in front of my LOCKER. I guess I was a bit of a rebel:)

My favorite book, movie or television show …
Anything starring Jude LAW!

I love quilting because …
it’s on my LIST of things to learn because truth be told I’m a bit of a novice. I have found designing quilt patterns has been an excellent way for me to learn the basics, with the help of some talented and experienced friends. Up for grabs today is my “High Street” quilt pattern as well as a layer cake. To enter, comment below about why you love quilting and I will choose a random winner on February 28th.

What if everyday was a holiday?
That would be wonderful as I’d have more time to pursue all of the creative activities I LOVE.

Is there an object, tool or anything that you cannot work without?
My LONG-SUFFERING Cintiq love designing by drawing directly on my computer monitor.

Do you have a quote or motto you live (or work) by?
This one popped up on Facebook today and kind of struck a chord.

Something I like …
LIAM FAHY SHOES
. Just in case you have a pair of these coveted beauties here is a cute little project to keep them safe when travelling. Download instructions here. I made this using a “High Street” charm pack.

Somewhere I have been …
LONDON, LUXEMBOURG, LAS VEGAS, AND LOS ANGELES.

Somewhere I want to go …
LE ÓN
, Spain is on my LIST for travel in the near future.

Someone I know ….
IsabeLLa, my eight year old daughter. The picture below is of Isabella using a pottery wheel. I just love her creative passion!

Thanks so much for joining me and a very special thanks to Moda.  Be sure to visit all of the talented Moda designers that will be posting over the next few days. Here is the link just in case:

Learn how you can get involved and create a pillow case dress for a little girl in Africa. Details here.

Welcome Fall

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

Fall is here and after a glorious summer I am ready for it. There is just something about early fall that I find incredibly inspiring, I manage to be super productive and upbeat. Of course that might not last when the weather turns nasty but then there is always the food!! I love an excuse to indulge in comfort food and who can ignore the wonderful abundance of root vegetables that harvest time brings. We celebrate fall every year with lots of scrumptious variations on root vegetable mash. Here is a recipe from Tyler Florence that looks like a good one, yum!
Happy fall:)

Antiques Fair

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

I was lucky to attend our local Kerrisdale antiques fair last weekend. It was the perfect sunny day and the arena is a short bike ride from our house. Had a ton of fun hunting treasures and snapping inspiration pics. I walked away with an assortment of very retro matchbook covers, I will share some very soon:)
